Here you will find the answers to your questions related to general guestbook settings and the guestbook control panel.

I've forgotton the username and/or password of my guestbook. How can I get them back?

If you have only forgotten the password of your guestbook, you can create a new password by filling out this form with the username and email address which you have used to create the guestbook. Are you not sure what the username of your guestbook is? Check the URL which you use to go to your guestbook. The part before .123guestbook.com/ is your username. For example, example with URL http://example.123guestbook.com/.

Is it possible to show the guestbook in a different language?

It is possible to show the guestbook in many different languages. At the moment, we are in the process of translating the guestbook in a dozen different languages. Have you seen an error in one of the texts or could you help us translate? Please let us know! You can contact us using the contact form. Please, don't forget to mention the language.

Is it possible to add more questions to the form with which visitors can add a message?

It is possible to add more questions to the message form. To do this, go to the control panel and log in with the username and password of your guestbook. After logging in, click on Edit questions form. On the next page you can add up to 8 questions to the message form. After adding your questions, click on Save changes.

How can I delete a message from my guestbook?

Go to the control panel of your guestbook and log in using the username and password of your guestbook. After logging in, click on Message control in the left menu. On the next page, click on delete with the message you would like to delete. It is also possible to delete more than one message at once. You can do this, by clicking on the checkbox at the left of the message. After selecting all the messages you would like to delete, click on the delete button at the top of the list. Note: Once you've deleted a message, it is not possible to retrieve it again. So, delete responsibly.

I have deleted my guestbook by accident. Is it possible to retrieve it again?

Please, send a message using our contact form and ask to undo a deletion. Don't forget to mention the username and password of your guestbook.

I don't receive any notification emails even though I have turned it on. What's wrong?

First, check the email address you've used to signup for a guestbook. Go to the control panel and log in using the username and password of your guestbook. After logging in, click on Change general information in the left menu. On the next menu, check the email address and change it, if necessary. If the email address was correct, check if the provider of the email address uses a spam filter and change its settings if necessary. if all fails, please get in contact with your email provider.

Is it possible to set the guestbook to read-only?

It is possible to set the guestbook to read-only, which only allows visitors to read your guestbook and not leave a message. To enable read-only, go to the control panel of your guestbook and log in using the username and password of your guestbook. After logging in click on Change status. On the next page click on the Visitors may only option and Save changes.

Is it possible to filter out some specific words (bad words)?

Yes, it is possible to filter out some specific words in the messages of your guestbook. This way you could, for instance, choose to filter out some curse words. To set up the bad word filter, go to the control panel and log using the username and password of your guestbook. After logging in, click on Word filter in the left menu. On the next page you will see two textfields. In the top textfield, you can fill out all the words (underneath eachother) you wish to filter out. In the second textfield you can type some characters you wish to use as a replacement of the bad word (e.g. *****). Instead of single words, it is also possible to filter out complete sentences by adding the complete sentence on one line in the top textfield.

I have received a few unwanted (spam) messages. What can I do about it?

We are using different methods to fight off all the spam that goes around on the internet. This includes a pre- and post spamfilter system and a CAPTCHA system which makes sure that messages are only added by real people and not automated machines. This way we make sure that 99% of all the spam we receive is blocked before it even reaches your guestbook. The best method to make sure you do not receive any more spam is to turn on the security code (CAPTCHA). Go to the control panel of your guestbook and log in using the username and password of your guestbook. After logging in, click on Guestbook options. On the next page go to Show security image and click on Yes,.... Afterwards click on Save changes If this won't help, you can also go to Message control in the control panel and click on the block link of the message you wish to block. This way, you can block the IP-address of the user who adds those unwanted messages.
